The project

The large building, with its regular and symmetrical shape, rises six storeys above ground, including two attic levels that look out over an extensive overhanging gable roof. Its design reflects the distinctive Alpine style of the area, with a blend of stone elements, metal cladding and wooden boards. As part of the renovation carried out under the Italian “Superbonus” scheme, the building was completely refurbished to improve energy efficiency while maintaining its original appearance. To preserve the existing architectural character, the designer combined traditional external insulation with a smooth plaster finish on the first two storeys, and a ventilated façade clad in wooden boards for the upper storeys.

The intervention

The renovation work carried out on the 3rd and 4th floors involved removing the old wooden cladding to expose the underlying concrete façade. The Isotec Parete System was then installed using a completely dry method, anchored securely to the load-bearing structure with special fasteners. The system was installed horizontally to facilitate the fixing of the vertically spaced larch tongue-and-groove boards, which were fixed directly to the stiffeners using self-tapping screws. Black stiffeners were selected to remain completely invisible between the cladding joints. At the top of the façade, loose stiffeners were anchored in place to allow the tongue-and-groove boards to follow the slope of the roof securely. Special attention was given to the base and top edge of the façade, which were finished with micro-perforated sheet metal profiles. These profiles allow air to circulate freely while preventing birds and small animals from entering the cavity.

The result

The Isotec Parete System greatly simplified the installation process, as a single product and a single laying step were sufficient to provide both the high-performance thermal insulation layer (with a declared thermal conductivity of λD = 0.022 W/mK) and the metal substructure required for fixing the board cladding. The result is an elegant façade that honours the area’s traditional character, with cladding that harmonises with the natural mountain environment, creating comfortable and energy-efficient living spaces.
